A Whole Lot of New Paintings

January 20, 2012

In the midst of other distractions in my life such as severe neck pain and grand theft auto, I have been updating my website art-shop. I have posted a lot of new artwork as well as a handful of older paintings I have never offered for sale.

Here is some info on a few of my newly listed paintings:

Yellow Tower City – I started several paintings of houses and buildings; city scapes, if you will. I like the contrast between homes and scyscrapers and wires and clouds. I thought this one turned out remarkably well. I wonder who works in the yellow tower? This painting is acrylic on canvas. It measures 24″ wide by 36″ tall.

Crash on the Waves – A lone wooden ship out on the stormy sea. Maybe this is a metaphor for life or maybe it is just an interesting scene. At least salt water is good for your skin. I like the way the water overlaps with each itself and blends and mingles. I wonder where the birds have been. Crash on the Waves is acrylic on wood. It measures 40″ wide by 12″ tall.

Man and Bull in Box – I painted this a bunch of years ago but I have always thought it is some of my best work. I was still working finding a style but I liked the weathered look and the layers and beat-up feel. I sanded the canvas and painted over tape and peeled it back. I tried to use the square canvas shape as a actual box for the man and the bull. He is trapped in a box with the troubles of his mind. Or, maybe it is all just a bunch of bull… The original painting is acrylic on canvas. It measures roughly 23″ wide by 20″ tall.

I Used to Live Here – One of my original cityscapes, this tall blue tower stands over the yellow afternoon city. The airplanes are taking people to far away places while some one down below sits on the sofa and watches an orange television. Everything is a contrast. Everything is connected. The original painting is acrylic on canvas. It measures 11″ wide by 17″ tall.

Orange Snout Beaks – This is one of my favorites, Orange Snout Beaks is a happy scene. High in a tree, these two owls are spending some quality time together. All they are missing is a cup of hot tea; and hands, owls have no hands. This painting is acrylic on canvas. It measures 16″ wide by 16″ tall.
