Cicada Songs

July 10, 2012

It is so beautiful here
In the shade
A few feet from the raging sun
I can see the sea
The wave crash
The sand splash
I am hiding behind a cedar
Ears blasted by cicada songs
Harsh but melodic
I seek solace from myself
I need more hot coffee
Black as a central Congolese
Too many don’t understand
I will never fit in
For now I will think of the cool breeze
Sip my strong drink
Bitter and rich
Let my mind slide off into the untended landscape
Gaze at her strong thighs
Tan toes and soft upper arms
I selfishly pray for myself and a pleasant evening
The song in the tree continues.
