Faces and Friends – BeltLine Mural 2012 – Day 1

October 4, 2012

Today I finally began my Atlanta BeltLine mural project for 2012. It has been a long wait but we began today. Maria helped me get this project ready. We have made sketches and developed plans and talked it all through 100 times. Many delays kept us from getting underway but today we did. The surface I will be painting is under the Highland Avenue Bridge in Inman Park.

I have named my new project, Eyes and Friends (Faces); or Faces and Friends. Why don’t you pick a name.

I used a hydraulic lift today. For someone who has had fears of long tall ladders, I felt like things went great. It is an amazing tool to have at your disposal. Thanks to Art on the BeltLine and SunBelt rental for making this a possibility. I would especially like to thank Elan Buchen for all of his help.

I spent the day priming. Maria painted and I rolled and now the concrete is ready for colors. Hopefully not too many graffiti tags will show up before I return.

I have high hopes for this project and am very excited to have begun. The wall seems immense up close but I know this will be great. There are a lot of pigeons under the bridge. They also told me it would be great.
