Happy Time Ink Man

December 12, 2012

I was told about a scrap sheet of plywood beside an empty building a few miles from my house. The wood had been painted with INFOWARS.COM over and over. Then it had been covered in 28 pasted-on posters. All of this made for a great background to paint on. I cut the board up and big-bam-boom.

I painted the same basic thing except for a few color variations on both sides. The ink-smoosh test guy was based on someRorschach test ink paintings I did a month ago. I wanted to make something happy and at the same time funny and weird. I make paintings that little kids in the backseat holler out to their mom about.

I went and installed the painting today. 12-12-12. Seemed like a good day to share

art with the world. I had a crazy zombie street walker guy cuss at me. He seemed overly threatening and I was beginning to think about protecting myself. I thought it would be odd if an artist who tries to share feelings of goodwill and happiness with his community was seen punching a crackhead zombie in the neck. The man wandered away to the corner store– stumbling and cussing all the way.

I made a small sign an attached it to the post about this sign being “not free art.” I wrote that this art was for all. I want all the people to see and experience what I have to share.

I hope you go by and see Happy Time Ink Man. Show him to your kids riding in the backseat. I bet they will like it.

You can also see photos of the sign here.
