I developed a proposal last week. I typed it up and had it proofread. After a friend had told me about the Art on the BeltLine project I became interested in participating. I wanted to paint on a wall and get paid for it so I decided to submit an idea to the Atlanta BeltLine project. The rules were pretty open. Basically they said to come up with an idea and let them hear it. If they like it they will give you money to execute the idea in your medium of choice.
I came up with 2 ideas. Both involved paint and brushes and a concrete wall. Simple. Thoughts. Paint. Effort. No sculpture or welding or nude dancing. My ideas could possibly include kudzu and old tire removal but I hope not. I came up with a couple basic and simple yet colorful and bold concepts. I drew some sketches and scanned them in. Then I went to Lowe’s and talked to Jim. He helped me develop a budget for the project. He was friendly and gray-headed and said, “You-ins” several times. This meat he was from Eastern Tennessee. I took my facts an figures and went back to my computer.
I packaged all of my samples and information into a nice pdf file and let my girlfriend look it over. She told me to make a few revisions. I cleaned it all up and sent it to the Art on the BeltLine folks through their website. On April 4th, they will start to review the entries. I am interested to see how the decision process goes.
I do not know if I will get chosen. I really think I should be. I can paint as good as anyone. Plus, I am tall and I could reach higher on a wall without extra and expensive tools. The panel should take this into consideration. I have been trying to think positive thoughts lately so I will continue to plan on painting. The project will not take place until the summer. It will be hot and humid and the insects will come visit. Maybe I can wear a headband while I paint. Maybe I can paint my face like an indian chief. Maybe you can help me.
If they choose my idea I will surely write about it here on my blog. Stay tuned.
