Monument to the Good Times

November 9, 2013

After some sad events in the neighborhood I had to ask, “Where did the good times go?” I don’t know where these statments come from. I just have things rush through my brain and some of them stick long enough for me to document them. I laid in bed and thought about how to build a tall pole that could hold a message. I drew it out and bought the pieces. I am pretty sure my neighbors wonder what I am up to. I bet they get a good laugh at me. As my friend Bobby Brett says, “Keep ’em guessing!

I wanted to create something simple that would catch people’s attention. I wanted people to think about how just a few changes in the community can make everything different. Actions from a select few can alter the feelings of many– for good or bad. I hope what I do can make things better for those that let it.

I like to say hello to people I see on the street. I wave at people on the front porches I pass. It makes me feel good. I hope it makes them feel good too. I suppose that is what my “streetfolk street art does as well. It is a big friendly wave to people all around.

I needed some assitance installing this homemade monument. I also needed help translating my message into Spanish. I am thankful for the help. Thanks to Hudson and his posthole digger too. Thanks to Qui-Que, Maria, Yvonne, Jose and Margarita.

So I ask, ” A donde se han ido los tiempo beunos?
