Shaky Knees Music Festival (black asphalt black screen)

May 9, 2014

I got a call this week that ended up with me spending two days on a black hot baking sheet of asphalt which was being transformed into a giant music festival. Shaky Knees Music Ferstival was being built and they asked me to paint on some fences. I went down to Atlantic Station in midtown Atlanta and checked it out. I painted with Nels and D_Byrd. It was pretty amazing to watch all of this being constructed around me as I painted– scaffolding, stages, tents, catering, dressing rooms. Maria helped me out a lot the first day. Worked with some good people and ate some sandwhiches. Met the sound guys, saw the dressing rooms for Spoon and The National and talked to a clown. Thanks to Jacque and Tim for hooking us up with paint and treats. I hope the music kidzzz have a good time.

P.S. Sunday we went back, saw bands, ate fun brussels sprouts, watched them load out Iron and Wine’s gear, walked past Deer Tick and had fun people watching. Fun times!
