The BeltLine Bears: Day 4

July 24, 2011

I bought paint. Paint that was colored. Bright paints of green and blue. Time to leave those pale hues behind. When I bought the paint I saw Jim. He is the guy from Lowe’s who had helped me with my original price quote I submitted with my proposal. Jim is a happy man. He told me he knew I would get the job. He sure is a joyful soul.

I was mad when I arrived at the wall. It was so hot and I was not feeling well. Girlfriend and pet traveled with me. They brought snacks so I had some food before I began. I needed a boost. I sat on the stump and stared at that ol’ concrete wall a good ten minutes. Then I stood up, dipped my brush in the green and started to work.

Something magical happens when the brush meets the surface and the paint flows. I can’t really explain it but it is a wonderful thing. It can change your day in an instant.

I also put two wooden bear heads on trees by I-20. I put one at the end of the exit onto Langhorn Street (near the mural site.) I put the other in front of the Oakland Cemetery sign between Moreland and Boulevard headed west. When I was walking along the interstate I found some tasty blackberries; juicy fruit in the summer! Look for bears.
