Shapes, Smiles, and Second Chances

March 3, 2025

Some art starts with big deep thoughts and some comes from funny things you see…. like the shape of an old silver-spray-painted lamp. My latest mural, Pointy People, was inspired by a cypress knee lamp my sister-n-law had. Its shape stuck with me, eventually leading to these tall, triangular figures—part mountain men, part friendly spirits.

This mural is actually a revival of an earlier piece I painted in Cabbagetown, Atlanta which was eventually covered over. I wanted to bring that energy back, so I recreated it in a new place, with the same bright colors and smiling faces. Painted on a wooden fence, it stands out with its playful, layered figures, hoping to pass along a little joy to anyone who walks by.

The best part? Seeing people’s reactions. So far, folks have responded with excitement and smiles, which is exactly what I hoped for. Sometimes, all you need is a cheerful, colorful group of Pointy People to brighten your day.

If you are interested in a mural please let me know. I love to paint them and I would enjoy bringing some new life and smiles to your wall. Let’s make something fun together.

See you soon,
