Cherry Blossoms And A Dental Chair

March 14, 2011

I worked the last 2 weeks on a couple paintings. I spent a lot of time on them and I am really pleased with the way they turned out. I painted in the morning, noon and in the night. I even painted one day when a tree had fallen on a power line and I had no electricity. It was very quiet. I think I heard the paint dry.

I was asked by Dr. Ames of Forsyth Endodontics to create a 2 painting set. He was looking for 2 separate works that blended together as a pair. He liked the tree limb and blossom themes he had seen me paint before and wanted something similar to compliment the look and feel of his office.

I had to spend some time thinking about how to make the limbs work over the space of 2 canvases. I made a few sketches and then started building up my layers. There is a point in every painting where you realize you came up with something nice. I realized this about half way through painting the black lines for the limbs. Then I took a big breathe.

I went up Saturday and installed them. Forsyth Endodontics is located in Cumming, Georgia. Dr. Ames was excited to see the finished products. I must admit they did look nice once hung on the wall. I named them Cherry Blossoms 104 and 202.
