Tree Man Mural – Eatonton, Georgia

March 24, 2023

Last week I worked in Eatonton, Georgia for the Chamber of Commerce. I created a small mural for them based on an illustration I developed for their new bicycle tourism program. Sometimes when you go to paint a project you have to ride up an elevator or walk through a long hallway or climb a lot of stairs but not for this project. No sir…. I just drove my old black truck right up to the shed where I was painting and got out my old black metal folding chair. I took my new outdoor water boiler and made myself a coffee and spread out all the paints in my brushes and listen to the birds.

While I painted I saw 2 cats and a ring-necked dove. I also listened to the giant clock ring every 30 minutes across the street at the courthouse. “Ding Ding Ding!” rang the clock. It was telling me to hurry up. “You have a lot of painting to do.”

It was nice to be in a small town and meet some friendly folks. On the drive there I passed miles and miles of cow pastures and cows and green grass and pecan trees. One day I saw a cow party. I honked my horn. Everything was so green and I really liked seeing all the countryside. I was happy with the final product and I hope that folks that see the painting in Eatonton get a smile on their face.

On my last day, as I was getting ready to go home, a friend I had made brought me a fresh donut and that made me happy on my ride home. Thanks Eatonton.

See you soon,
