A New Feeling

February 28, 2012

Over the last month I have been discovering some new feelings. I have tried to keep changing as a painter. I try new materials or paints. I want to keep growing and trying new things. I have been enjoying painting some abstracts. Abstraction feels good.

A long time ago, I was unsure of abstract paintings. Over the years this has changed. I now get a sort of “feedback” when the painting feels right. It speaks to me. That is how I know if it needs more coercion or if I should leave it alone.

I have been using a combination of layering and drips and painting vertically. I have always painted on the floor but I have been using some techniques that require gravity to pull the paint away from my brush.

I hope to use these new stylings in some of my other paintings; bears and buffalos. I think people should continue to change and learn and push themselves. Pick up a new hobby or skill. Close one eye and look through the other one for a day. It surely must make for a better and richer life.
