Last Week (Jesus Bears It All)

June 18, 2014

This last week has been real hot. I have been painting in an upstairs condo. It is nice to have a good place to paint. Hope it lasts a while longer. What would life be without threats of uncertainty to mess my brain over? The hot wind blows through the studio space — across the parking lot through the window over the carpet into the painting room around me and out the back screen door and into the lake woods (but first it must negotiate its path through the sourwood tree.)

I have been finishing up a set of ten paintings for a local restaurant. More info real soon. It is some of my best work, I am sure of it. Scrambled eggs and toast but I don’t eat eggs so I will just have the crispy toast. Watch out Cabbagetown.

I have been thinking to many thoughts of dread lately. I have had too many headaches. I think of the wrong things at the wrong times. It hurts too much too often.

I also have been making a new set of paintings on wood donated to me by Joel Doll Head of the Doll Head Trail at Constitution Lakes Park. I am glad people donate materials to me. This morning I went and collected 18 beat up plastic signs off the telephone poles by the sketchy gas station. A strand of men sitting on a wall and waiting on the bus glared at me. The plastic signs make good bears and signs for myself.

Last night I met with the Georgia Conservancy about future plans to start working together. I also got a letter from Coca-Cola. Exciting times ahead? — I sho hope so.

Even though the date is still officially spring it is full on summer here in Atlanta, Georgia. It is too hot and humid for me. The only upside is I occasionally get entertained by a thunderstorm. I love thunder. I love the uncertainty and excitement. I love the lightning.

The other day I saw a round brown field mouse running through the ivy trying to climb the stone wall. It made me happy.
