Bear Cross Memorials

April 25, 2011

So a while back I had this idea. I was going to make memorials for the side of the road. Mine would be white crosses with bears on them. So I got out my saw and drill gun. I made seven so far. I have been collecting scrap wood from the side of the road and making crosses out of it. There are a lot of good things you can find discarded on the side of the street. I see all sorts of things when I am jogging. Then I will go back later and pick them up.

I put out the first cross yesterday. I hammered it in the ground along the side of  I-285 between Moreland Avenue and Jonesboro Road. If you are headed east it will be on your right. I am going to put the other 6 out in the next couple weeks. Keep an eye out around Atlanta.

I see a lot of crosses and make-shift memorials along the roadsides. I guess a lot of people have died in a lot of places. Either more people are dying or this is a new fad in monuments and memorials. They seem to be left alone so I hope my bears are left to rest in peace.

As I place new ones around I will let you know.
